Delicious recipe for donuts that look just like those from Krispy Kreme.
* For the donuts
° 3 sachets of 7 g of rapid yeast
° 3/4 cup water (105 -115 degrees f)
° 2 1/4 cups (530 mL) milk, boiled and cooled
° 3/4 cup sugar
° 1 1/2 teaspoon of salt
° 3 eggs
° 1/2 cup shortening
° 7 1/2 cups canola oil for frying
* For the icing
° 3 cups of powdered sugar
° 2 1/4 teaspoons vanilla
° 6 to 9 tablespoons of water
In a cup, add the yeast to the hot water, then let it sit.
Heat the milk in the microwave and let it cool.
Milk contains an enzyme that will destroy the yeast, if it is not heated and then cooled, your donuts will not swell.
In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the yeast mixture, milk, sugar, salt, eggs, shortening and 3 cups of flour.
Whisk for 2 minutes.
Cover and let double dough, about 30 to 60 minutes.
Once the dough has risen, transfer the dough to the floured surface and roll the dough to 1/2 inch thick.
Cut your donuts
Cover and let swell again for 30 minutes to 12 hours.
In a little bowl, mix frosting ingredients.
In a deep fryer, heat your oil to 350 f.
Place donuts in oil.
Cook the donuts for about 1 minute on each side.
Drain on a paper bag.
Dip in the icing.
