Homemade Croissants Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the Dough:
    • 400ml (1 3/4 cups) warm milk
    • 100g (1/2 cup) sugar
    • 7g dry yeast
    • 1 egg
    • 15 ml (1 tbsp) oil
    • A pinch of salt
    • 10g (2 tsp) vanilla sugar
    • 600g (3 3/4 cups) flour
    • 100g (7 tbsp) butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Yeast Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the warm milk, sugar, and dry yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes to activate the yeast.
  2. Mix Wet Ingredients:
    • Add the oil, egg, and vanilla sugar to the yeast mixture. Whisk until well combined.
  3. Form the Dough:
    • Gradually stir in the flour and salt. Mix with a spatula initially, then knead by hand until the dough forms.
    • Incorporate the melted butter and continue kneading until the dough is elastic.
  4. First Rise:
    • Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm place.
  5. Shape the Croissants:
    • Divide the dough into 10-12 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, cover, and let rest for 15 minutes.
    • Roll each ball into an oval shape. Fold it in half lengthwise and roll up to form a croissant shape. Repeat with the remaining dough.
  6. Second Rise:
    • Place the croissants on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover and let them rise for another 15-20 minutes.
  7. Bake:
    • Preheat your oven to 180°C (360°F).
    • Brush the croissants with milk and bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  8. Finishing Touches:
    • Once baked, brush each croissant with melted butter for extra shine and flavor.

Enjoy your delicious homemade croissants, perfect for a buttery and fluffy treat!
